Goodyear is set to host a Veterans Day Tribute Festival that celebrates and honors the sacrifices made by local veterans. The city invites residents to join in on a heartfelt evening, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Goodyear Civic Square Park located at 1900 N. Civic Square. This tribute includes live music from Fighter Country, a showcase of patriotic murals, various arts and crafts activities, and a tribute flag garden, plus a selection of food trucks to cater to all tastes.
In a unique addition this year, the festival introduces "Banners of the Brave," a display of custom light pole banners bearing the faces and names of local veterans around Civic Square Park. These banners serve as a manifestation of pride and recognition for those who have donned the uniform and served their country. The "Banners of the Brave" initiative provides an opportunity to visibly honor and remember the services of veterans beyond the confines of the festival.
Ahead of the festivities, community members can participate in several activities intended to honor our nation's heroes. Flags with personalized messages of gratitude can be collected at Goodyear City Hall between Nov. 3-7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to be "planted" in the flag garden and displayed at the event. Moreover, local artists will be transforming blank canvases into patriotic murals at Civic Square Park throughout the week leading up to Veterans Day, with the completed works slated for festival display. Residents wishing to show their support from home can pick up Veterans Day yard signs at city hall during the same week and timeframe.
This gathering is more than an event; it is a reflection of the community's respect and appreciation for the bravery and commitment of its military members.
