Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three new members to the Texas Commission on Marriage and Family and named a chair to lead the group’s work in supporting strong family relationships across the state. Carl Caton, founder and president of The San Antonio Marriage Initiative, will serve as chair of the commission, which is tasked with developing recommendations for the legislature on marriage and family-related issues, as per the Office of the Governor release.

Caton previously led Caton Development, Inc. for nearly two decades and holds a degree in finance from Angelo State University. He also serves on the board of the National Alliance for Relationship and Marriage and is a founder of the Garden Ridge Men's Bible Study.

Michael Hiller of Lakeway, an attorney and mediator at Hiller and Associates PC, was also appointed to the commission. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Semiotics from Brown University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. Hiller is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Travis County Advocates.

Rounding out the appointments is Pearle, a member of Birchman Baptist Church in Aledo, who has served in various academic and ministry roles, including positions at Hannibal-LaGrange University and Truett McConnell University. He holds a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry.

All three members will serve on the Texas Commission on Marriage and Family until December 31, 2026, contributing their experience in family advocacy, law, and ministry to help strengthen family support initiatives in Texas.
