A head-on collision in Granite Bay on Saturday morning has left one man dead, reports the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. along Eureka Road near Farschon Place, according to a statement obtained by ABC10.
The deceased, a man from Granite Bay, was the driver of a white Ford Mustang that collided with a black Chevrolet Tahoe. Officials pronounced the Mustang's driver dead at the scene of the crash, while the Tahoe's driver, a woman from Roseville, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, as per CHP's report and KCRA's coverage. Both vehicles were only occupied by their respective drivers.
The aftermath of the crash compelled authorities to close Eureka Road for several hours on Saturday, disrupting traffic and prompting an advisory from CHP for drivers to avoid the area. The closure facilitated an ongoing investigation to discern the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. Details surrounding the cause have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear if substances like alcohol played a role in the collision.
Officials ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Auburn office. The investigation is ongoing, according to CHP and KCRA.
