Gwinnett County is gearing up for a Veterans Day filled with respect and acknowledgment for those who have served. The upcoming Veterans Day Ceremony, initially set for the outdoors, has been moved inside due to the cold weather, ensuring attendees are comfortable during the festivities. As cited by Gwinnett County's announcement, those looking to honor veterans can head to the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center tomorrow.
The day will commence with the Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 am inside the GJAC Auditorium. A statement retrieved from Gwinnett County's news release detailed that the event will offer remarks from local officials and will feature honor guard activities along with a keynote address by Retired Army Sergeant Major Kerry Dyer. To finalize the event, veterans in attendance are invited to take part in a Veterans March to celebrate their commitment to service.
Following the morning's ceremony, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson invites the public to the Gwinnett County Stand Down event, which provides essential services and resources to veterans and their families. According to Gwinnett County's overview, services include health screenings, housing resources, haircuts, vaccines, and more, with vendors and partners present from approximately noon until 2:00 pm.
To cap off the day, a 20th-anniversary celebration for the Gwinnett Veterans Memorial Museum will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm within the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. It promises speakers, entertainment, and refreshments. While the event is free, guests who are 21 or older must register in advance to partake in the celebration, as per Gwinnett County’s instructions.
