The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) will fly a LiDAR-equipped helicopter over the H-3 Haʻikū Portal on Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to map the area’s topography. According to HDOT, the survey, part of a slope stabilization project, will cover both the Kāne‘ohe-bound side and the Windward side of the Harano Tunnel. The helicopter will maintain an altitude of at least 400 feet to minimize disruptions. Motorists are advised to expect brief aerial activity in the area.
