The Healey-Driscoll Administration is investing $2.1 million into apprenticeship programs across Massachusetts to train and employ over 300 apprentices and pre-apprentices in industries from healthcare to clean energy. Middlesex Community College received $125,000 to launch a registered apprenticeship program in surgical technology, part of 34 organizations benefiting from these grants, according to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Governor Maura Healey said, “The GROW grants are an effective way to expand Registered Apprenticeship opportunities that connect people to good jobs and help build a skilled workforce.” Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Lauren Jones added, "Expanding and growing Registered Apprenticeship in the Massachusetts is an important part of our workforce agenda," as reported by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The FY26 budget includes $2 million to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the construction and building trades and to expand registered apprenticeships. Employers can receive a $4,800 tax credit for each apprentice they hire. The Commonwealth is inviting organizations to apply for Fiscal Year 2026 funding for workforce development. Phil Sisson, President of Middlesex Community College, expressed support for the program, and Tom McKeever, President of SEIU Local 888, said, "Their guidance and patience help us launch a successful program that provides options and support to our members were security and predictability for the future is hard to come by these days," as stated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
