An incident of aggressive vandalism and assault in Helendale drew the attention of local law enforcement this past weekend. According to a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, deputies were dispatched to the 27500 block of Silver Lakes Parkway late on Saturday night following a report of a juvenile threatening violence with a knife. The official release states the suspect is a 17-year-old male resident of Helendale.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies learned from the victim that his son, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had damaged his car and then fled the area on foot. The juvenile, confronting his father earlier, attempted to stab the victim while behind a metal security door. After failing to harm his father, he proceeded to attack the family’s Chevy truck, puncturing all four tires and breaking the front window.
The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station has taken the lead in the investigation, which remains active as of their last report. The young suspect managed to elude capture initially, sparking an ongoing search for his whereabouts. Further details of the confrontation and the youth's motivations remain unreported; however, authorities have stressed that a minor acted in this extreme outburst of violence.
