
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department recently apprehended 19-year-old Hemet resident Gerardo Moreno in connection with a case of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 22, when Moreno allegedly met a young girl through social media and later sexually assaulted her at her home in Corona after she requested he leave.
A statement from the Sheriff's Department detailed that the victim contacted deputies from the Lake Mathews Station the following day, on October 23 ,at about 9:20 p.m., to report the assault. Moreno was subsequently identified and located by investigators, and on Thursday, November 6, at approximately 10:00 a.m., he was taken into custody on Suffolk Street in Corona. According to a news release on the Sheriff's Department's website, he has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center under charges of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor.
The investigation remains active, and further details have not been made public. The Lake Mathews Station is calling on anyone with information regarding this case to come forward.
