
Hickory is set to welcome the holiday season with a suite of festive events starting on November 21 with the City of Hickory’s Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting, as the town comes alive with the spirit of celebration, a series of activities will span the entire festive period, ensuring residents and visitors will have plenty of holiday cheer to look forward to.
The highlight event known as Holidaypalooza is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Union Square, this celebration is a collaboration between the City of Hickory, the Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA), and the Hickory Farmers Market, who are joining forces to deliver an event that promises to entertain attendees of all ages, complete with a visit from Santa Claus and the Thanksgiving Turkey until 1 p.m., and Santa’s holiday story time at 1 p.m. in association with Hickory Public Library.
During Holidaypalooza, children will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of holiday-themed activities, including writing letters to Santa at the HDDA table and joining in activities organized by the staff of Hickory Public Library.
Furthermore, marking a first for the event, the Hickory Farmers Market is hosting a special holiday market open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., thus providing an occasion for community members to browse and shop locally sourced holiday treats and goods, shopping in Hickory during the festivities is an inviting prospect as downtown businesses gear up to showcase a selection of holiday wares that cater to an array of tastes and preferences.
