
A hiker was rescued from Kamaileunu Trail in Makaha this past weekend, officials reported. The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a distress call at approximately 6:24 p.m. on November 27, detailing an incident involving a male hiker in his 30s who had fallen ill on the trail. According to the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) report, a total of 6 units comprising 18 personnel were dispatched to assist in the rescue operation.
First responders arrived at the trail by 6:32 p.m. and established command while securing a nearby landing zone for an air evacuation. Air 1 transported the hiker to the landing zone, where EMS teams were waiting.
HFD personnel provided basic life support on the scene before the hiker was airlifted. He was transferred to EMS care by 7:25 p.m.
HFD personnel completed the rescue safely, with no injuries reported. The hiker’s condition has not been released.
