
A 70-year-old Hilo man, Robert Clifford Bradshaw, has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree criminal property damage after a deadly incident in downtown Hilo, with bail set at $510,000. The event occurred last Saturday morning in a parking lot on Kamehameha Avenue, where officers found a 64-year-old man run over by a vehicle following a fight involving a knife, according to the Hawai‘i Police Department.
Witnesses reported that Bradshaw, who currently has no permanent address, got into a physical altercation with the victim before returning to his van and running him over. An autopsy is planned to confirm the cause of death, while the victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification.
Bradshaw was found in his vehicle near the scene and taken into custody. He was treated for injuries at Hilo Benioff Medical Center before being moved to East Hawai‘i Detention Facility, as per Hoodline. His vehicle was impounded at the Hilo Police Station pending a search warrant. Bradshaw’s initial court appearance was scheduled on Monday in Hilo District Court.
