This holiday season, downtown Honolulu will be aglow with festivities as the Honolulu City Lights return with its annual Opening Night on November 29. The beloved event kicks off with the illumination of a massive 55-foot Cook pine tree, perched in front of Honolulu Hale. According to details released by the Hawaii State Public Library System, spectators can expect the tree lighting ceremony to commence around 6:00 p.m.

Following the tree lighting, the Public Workers’ Electric Light Parade is set literally to sparkle down South King Street. Floats adorned with bright lights and holiday decorations, along with marching bands, are slated to create a vivid display of the season's cheer. This year's festivities are set to expand, with Thomas Square Park transforming into Show Aloha Land - a winter wonderland replete with interactive installations and themed lights displays. Organizers hope to enhance the holiday experience, encouraging visitors to capture memories amidst the spectacles.

As if the visual treat wasn't enough, the festivities include a shopping experience as well. The Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i will open its Holiday Market on the Hawai‘i State Library's lawn from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. More information about the Holiday Market will follow soon, with a nod to local vendors and artisans anticipated to showcase their work.
