House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer recently commented on President Trump's decision to revoke certain executive actions issued by his predecessor. Comer's statement came after the committee released a report examining the use of an autopen to sign executive actions during President Biden's administration.
According to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the use of an autopen during President Biden’s tenure raised questions about the signing of executive actions. Chairman James Comer expressed support for President Trump's decision to revoke those actions.
A press release states that Chairman Comer did not stop at the commendation and also took additional actions, including sending a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. The staff report, released last month and titled "The Biden Autopen Presidency: Decline, Delusion, and Deception in the White House," forms the basis for Comer's request that the U.S. Department of Justice review executive actions taken during President Biden's administration. The review is expected to include scrutiny of Biden’s aides who, during the investigation, invoked the Fifth Amendment.
Following these findings, several Biden aides are under review for their exercise of presidential authority. Chairman Comer also contacted the District of Columbia Board of Medicine to request an evaluation of the actions of Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the former president’s personal physician. The review focuses on their conduct related to the former president’s health and potential compliance with relevant regulations.
