Kenneth Cutting Jr.’s body was found in Buffalo Bayou, and the case remains closed. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said his autopsy included data from another person, calling it a clerical error. The Houston Police Department said they will not reopen the investigation, as there is no evidence of foul play and the cause of death is unclear, as reported by KHOU.
Cutting, 22, was last seen at Pete's Piano Bar, and his disappearance was unusual. His cousin, Lauren Freeman, said, "HPD hasn't done everything it possibly can to find out what happened to my cousin," according to KHOU.
Since 2017, 189 bodies have been found in Houston’s bayous, with nearly 40% of cases marked as "undetermined," as per Click2houston. Errors in reports, including incorrect personal details and the wrong spelling of the street where Kenneth Cutting Jr. was found, have raised questions, prompting Freeman to ask, "What other mistake has been made?" Despite the lack of official progress, Freeman said, "I just can't give up," and plans to continue her own investigation into her cousin's death, as mentioned by KHOU.
