A suspect has been apprehended and charged with the killing of a man in what culminated as a fatal encounter at 3534 Russell Street on October 25, according to a recent briefing from Houston Police Department. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Jose Guadalupe Amaya Martinez, now faces a murder charge filed by the 497th Criminal District Court, details from the original City of Houston News release indicated, Martinez is currently held at the Lake County Sheriff’s Detention Center in Gary, Indiana, and a booking photo was distributed alongside the press release. The victim, Ramon Martinez Linares, was aged 55.
The initial police response was triggered by a shooting reported in the early hours, where HPD patrol officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, with paramedics later declaring him dead at the scene; HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger were said to have been involved in the call response, as reported by the City of Houston.
As per the City of Houston, officers gathered that there was a conflict between the victim and another male during which, the suspect discharged a firearm at the victim before fleeing from the site of the altercation, Martinez was subsequently discovered as the suspect following the police inquiry; he would later be tracked down and detained on November 1 by the Indiana FBI Gang Response Investigative Team according to the reports.
