Following a 2024 fatal shooting in Houston, a suspect has been taken into custody and charged with the crime, as reported by the Houston Police Department. The incident, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Austin Pham, occurred late in the evening at an apartment complex on West Oaks Plaza Drive, according to the City of Houston.
D’Marion Manuel, a 21-year-old, has been charged with capital murder and is awaiting trial in the 486th Criminal District Court. The arrest was made possible after the Houston Police Department's patrol officers responded to a call describing a suspicious person armed with a weapon. The caller also reported to have heard gunshots and witnessed individuals fleeing the scene with weapons. Police efforts led to the conviction to quickly apprehend Manuel by the HPD Westside Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team, as detailed by the City of Houston.
Upon officers' arrival at the scene, they discovered Pham unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel from the Houston Fire Department arrived shortly after and pronounced Pham dead at the scene.
