Details have emerged about a tragic shooting that took place in the early hours of Saturday at a residence on 891 Lucky Street, leading to the death of a 21-year-old man, whose name has yet to be released pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
A statement obtained by the Houston Police Department explains that officers responded to a call at approximately 3 a.m. and found an unresponsive male with a gunshot wound, and despite the Houston Fire Department paramedics' efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, sparked by earlier disturbances and an argument turned violent as the deceased tried to regain entry into the home through the garage, he was shot by another male, 26, during the ensuing physical altercation.
The investigative findings by HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Graf and E. Torres suggest that the decedent had a prior relationship with a female occupant of the residence and had caused a commotion there earlier that night, which subsequently escalated when he returned, leading to the fatal incident. The confrontation, as reported, was initiated by the younger individual, which resulted in his death possibly raising questions of self-defense or domestic tensions boiling over.
In the wake of the situation, the female occupant contacted 911 while the shooter attempted first aid on the victim, the details of which paint a complex picture of the circumstances leading to the unfortunate event, and after a discussion with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, it was concluded that the incident would be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
