A traffic incident in Houston resulted in a fatality after a woman, critically injured in a collision at 7300 Dixie Drive on August 23, died on Monday. The 59-year-old victim’s name has not been released as next of kin notifications are underway by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to the City of Houston.
The accident involved a red Toyota Tacoma turning onto Telephone Road when it struck the pedestrian in a crosswalk. The 17-year-old driver was cited for failing to yield, and the victim was initially transported to the hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, as reported by the City of Houston.
A woman was released from the hospital on November 5, but her condition worsened, and she was later declared dead. "The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences informed officers she passed away due to complications from the crash," said the City of Houston. The Harris County Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the collision.
