A Howard County paraeducator is facing charges following a reported sexual encounter with a high school student, as disclosed by local police. William Nelson II, a 26-year-old special education paraeducator at Guilford Park High School, was arrested on allegations involving a 15-year-old male student, with the incident reportedly unfolding outside of school premises.
Nelson, who hails from Elkridge, met the student through a dating app before engaging in sexual intercourse within the confines of his car on Wednesday, the police investigation indicates, though details of the exchange and its repercussions are not yet fully unveiled as the case unfurls. After learning of the encounter, the victim confided in the school staff, prompting them to reach out to Howard County Police. Nelson was apprehended the following day at the institution where he taught.
Findings from the Howard County Police Department, cited by Fox Baltimore, suggest there was no previous interaction between Nelson and the victim at Guilford Park High School or in any other setting before their meeting on the app. Nelson has been placed on administrative leave by the Howard County Public School System immediately upon the allegation surfacing. He is currently being held at the Howard County Detention Center, facing charges of sexual offense in the third degree.
In response to the serious nature of these charges, authorities are calling on those with information to step forward, an appeal similarly echoed by WMAR-2 News. Detectives are particularly urging other students who may have been victimized by Nelson to contact the Howard County Police at 410-313-STOP or email [email protected].
