The roads of Kapolei and ‘Ewa may just have become a smidge safer following a recent crackdown by Honolulu's finest. The Honolulu Police Department swung into action on Tuesday, issuing a raft of citations and recovering illegally operated e-dirt bikes in an operation that spanned these two local areas. According to a social media post by the department, 16 citations were handed out for registration and safety check violations, and a motorcyclist was cited for carrying a young passenger in defiance of the law.

Apparently, amidst recovering six e-dirt bikes, the HPD also issued nine warnings, which no doubt served as dew on a parched pavement for those bent on flouting traffic laws. Emphasizing the potential peril these high-speed e-dirt bikes pose on public roads, the department's post issued a stern but necessary reminder: "High-speed e-dirt bikes are illegal on public roads, and for good reason: they’re a serious safety hazard."

The HPD emphasizes not only enforcement but also community safety, urging riders to restrict their high-speed activities to designated trails. “Let’s work towards safer roads together,” the police department stated.
