A 29-year-old woman from Houston was fatally struck by her own vehicle Tuesday following a crash on Interstate 65 south near Kimberly, Alabama, authorities reported. The victim, Donnene T. Walker-Vean, was involved in a two-vehicle collision and exited her car after the initial impact. Officials said she was struck when her vehicle was hit again. Walker-Vean was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Coroner's account and ongoing probe
The Jefferson County Coroner told ABC 33/40 that the crash occurred around 12:12 p.m., and Walker-Vean was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital at 12:36 p.m.
The coroner's office reported that Walker-Vean was initially involved in a two-vehicle collision and was struck when another vehicle hit her car after she had exited it. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers are investigating the crash.
