An inmate at Allegheny County Jail passed away today following a medical emergency, as confirmed by jail officials. The individual, a 38-year-old man, experienced medical distress around 10 a.m., with the facility's staff attempting to administer lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived and took over the situation. Despite the rapid response, the man was declared deceased at approximately 10:38 a.m.

According to Audacy, the deceased inmate had been in custody at the jail since October 1, facing harassment charges, and was subsequently sentenced for violations related to Protection From Abuse (PFA) orders.

Warden Trevor Wingard, speaking on the incident, said an internal review will be carried out along with an investigation by the Allegheny County police, which is standard procedure following such incidents within the jail, according to WPXI.

The jail has also notified the man’s emergency contact regarding his death.
