
Uptown Charlotte became the scene of a fatal shooting last night when a man suffering from a gunshot wound was discovered following a vehicle crash. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of 7th Street and Davidson Street shortly before 11 p.m. upon receiving calls about the incident. According to QC News, the victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and it has not been reported if any charges have been filed. WCNC notes that homicide investigation by CMPD is currently underway and the identity of the slain man has been withheld, pending notifications of next of kin.
Amid the ongoing investigation, a CMPD video released details given by Major Gene Lim, in which he indicated that their homicide and crime scene units are "actively working the scene." "Currently, we have our homicide and crime scene units out here actively working the scene," Lim said in a statement obtained by The Charlotte Observer. He also made an appeal to the public for information about the killing.
