Highlands-area shoppers might want to keep an eye on their wallets as a local retail store on Dunn Avenue was hit not once, but twice in a single day by bold thieves. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking public help after the store experienced these unusual back-to-back thefts.

The first incident occurred at approximately 1:57 p.m., when an individual entered the establishment, swiftly selected an impact drill and a tool combo kit, and departed unnoticed into a waiting white box truck—a vehicle notably marked by the absence of a tag and the presence of passenger side damage, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Hours later, a separate incident unfolded at around 6:25 p.m. where a different man targeted a generator, quickly removing it from the premises and absconding in a white pickup truck.

The monetary value of the stolen goods exceeds $900, and the repercussions could ripple through the community as businesses might shift the loss to their customers; leading to increased prices on products which affects everyone's bottom line.

Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge about the incidents, the suspects, or the getaway vehicles to come forward; stores in the Highland area are also being advised to remain vigilant during business hours and to review their security measures. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office warns that costs associated with theft like this often trickle down to the consumer, ultimately we all pay the price when theft rises. For those who wish to provide assistance to the ongoing investigation, information can be shared anonymously through the Crime Stoppers hotline.
