As Jacksonville residents prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families and friends, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) has announced a brief hiatus in their public operations. The JSO's publicly accessible buildings will remain closed yesterday, November 27, 2025, and today, November 28, 2025, in honor of the holiday. This closure includes all district substations and the Police Memorial Building.
The facilities taking a break included the District 1 Substation on Norwood Avenue, District 2 Substation on Merrill Road, District 3 Substation on Liberty Ridge Drive, along with several others. Despite the closures, the JSO reassures the community that essential services such as the Patrol Division and the Communications Center, will maintain their usual round-the-clock operations. For non-emergencies, the public can still reach the police service at the non-emergency number 904.630.0500, but are reminded to use 9-1-1 for urgent situations that need immediate attention.
According to the alert posted on the JSO’s official website, all offices and publicly available buildings are slated to resume normal operating hours on Monday, December 1, 2025. Citizens planning to access any of JSO's services or facilities should plan accordingly and expect to do so starting next week.
