The City of Janesville is currently welcoming those spirited in holiday fanfare to apply for its upcoming Jolly Jingle Holiday Lighted Parade. Slated for December 6 at 6 p.m., the parade promises a display of seasonal vibrancy, with floats, decorated vehicles, and marching bands to light up the evening. Josleyn Transport is presenting the event, which offers a free opportunity for community members to contribute creatively to the holiday celebrations.

According to an announcement released by the City of Janesville, groups and individuals taking part in the parade stand a chance to win awards in categories like Best Use of Lights and Most Creative, among others. Winners are also granted the privilege of choosing their spot in next year's parade. Meanwhile, participants must note that all parade applications should be submitted by the deadline, which falls on Monday, November 10.

The Holiday Lighted Parade will start at the intersection of North Jackson Street and Milwaukee Street and follow a roughly ¾-mile route through central Janesville. The parade will travel along Milwaukee Street, turn south on South Main Street, and conclude at Racine Street. Participation is free, and the event is open to all members of the community.

Ahead of the Holiday Lighted Parade, the Janesville Recreation Division has warned residents about fraudulent social media pages claiming to represent the event. Officials urge the public to follow only the authorized Janesville Jolly Jingle Facebook page for accurate information. The city also advises participants to use the official parade application form, available on the event’s website, to ensure proper registration and compliance with rules and regulations, according to the City of Janesville website.

Awards for the parade include a Judge’s Choice Award, Most Spirit, and People’s Choice Award. Winners will receive cash, an engraved plaque, or a trophy.
