It’s that time of year again in Janesville when Santa’s hotline blinks to life, connecting children to the North Pole’s most famous residents. Bringing holiday cheer just a dial away, the City of Janesville Recreation Division and the Janesville Lions Club have rolled out their annual Santa Claus Calls program. According to the City of Janesville’s website, this unique tradition allows kids under ten to have a conversation with either Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, or one of the elves.
Set for December 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., this event is a free service exclusively for the municipality's youngest believers, courtesy of the local community groups. In what seems to be a workshop brimming with magic and merriment, Santa and his crew will take a break from their holiday preparations to chat with eager youngsters about their Christmas wishes. Mischief apparently stands still as the elves pause toy-making to partake in these heartfelt exchanges. Registration is now open and will remain so until December 3. As they were printed on the city’s website, application forms can be submitted to the Recreation Division either via email or by dropping them off at the division's office within City Hall.
Parents and guardians desiring to gift their little ones this novelty must act swiftly; the deadline to submit a child’s name for a yuletide conversation looms on the horizon at 4:30 p.m. on the aforementioned close date. Families interested in sparking a bit of holiday wonder must fill out individual forms for each child, ensuring Santa receives the right names and wish lists on his call sheet. The information on how to apply and detailed instructions on completing applications are outlined on the City of Janesville's website.
Those whose questions may arise or need further details about this seasonal event are encouraged to reach out directly to the Recreation Division by dialing (608) 755-3030. To clear any confusion and assist residents in registering, the Recreation Division stands prepared to answer calls.
