The Ka‘ū community has recently celebrated one of its own, as Officer Jenna Kosinski-Santos earned the title of Ka‘ū Officer of the Quarter. The ceremony, held at the Nā‘ālehu Community Center on Wednesday, recognized her outstanding contribution to local law enforcement.
With a tenure dating back to June 2021 in the Ka‘ū District, Officer Kosinski-Santos is praised for her proactive nature and leadership skills. According to the Hawaii Police Department's news release, she's well-versed in analyzing offender behavior, which she channels into strategic patrols and investigative vigils. Her approach in scrutinizing dispatch logs and case reports each day, coupled with a dedicated tracking of wanted suspects, has led to the arrest of several individuals on charges ranging from property crimes to weapons offenses.
Officer Kosinski-Santos has been involved in arrests, recovery of live ammunition, and the coordination of felony charges in the Ka‘ū District, according to Acting Captain Pernell Hanoa.
Officer Kosinski-Santos has received multiple recognitions, including Ka‘ū Top Enforcer 2023, the Hawaiʻi County Council Haweo award in May 2022, and Kona Crime Prevention Committee Officer of the Month in December 2020 for responding to a traffic collision off-duty.
