Tragedy struck Kuamo‘o Road near Melia Street on Tuesday when a head-on collision resulted in the death of a young woman and injuries to another driver, as reported by Kaua‘i County's official press release. Moani Kalima, a 25-year-old from Anahola, was pronounced dead at Wilcox Medical Center after her 2006 Honda sedan veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 2019 Nissan van.

The van's 50-year-old driver from Kapa‘a sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated accordingly.
