Firefighters on Kaua'i have successfully contained a brush fire that erupted in the Kōkeʻe area, near mile marker 4. The fire, reported before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, spanned an estimated 10 acres but has not led to any injuries or damage to structures at this time. As reported by Kaua'i County, after an overnight effort, the blaze was successfully subdued.

As per the county's latest update, the firefighting crew, which included personnel from Hanapēpē, Kalaheo, and Waimea fire stations, as well as Rescue 3, Tender 1, and the on-duty Battalion Chief, worked tirelessly through the dark hours. They were joined by the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, whom provided mutual aid.

Currently, Kokeʻe Road has been closed off to traffic to ensure the safety of the Kaua'i Fire Department (KFD) personnel still on site. The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is closely monitoring the situation, ensuring all protocols are followed and that there is no resurgence of the fire.
