Starting November 28, residents of Keller and Westlake can now have their precious packages delivered directly to the safety of the Keller Police Station, as detailed in a social media post from the department.
In an effort to decidedly reduce the risk of theft, the program allows members of the community to ship their online purchases to 330 Rufe Snow Dr., where packages are monitored by advanced security measures and the vigilant presence of uniformed officers. The service, which runs until December 24, aims to provide peace of mind for those unable to quickly retrieve their deliveries from their home porches. "Don’t worry, y’all! We’re here to help," reads the statement from Keller Public Safety's social media post, reassuring residents of their commitment to protect the community's festive purchases.
To avail the service, participants are instructed to use their legal name for shipping details and provide a photo ID when retrieving their packages from the police station. This system is meticulously planned to ensure that each gift reaches its rightful owner. The logistics of the program are clearly outlined, emphasizing the requirement of identification for the collection of parcels and the limit on package weight, capping the maximum at 50 lbs, to spare the strain on the volunteers who assist in the handling and distribution of the gifts.
