In the wake of rising public concerns over active shooter incidents, Keller Public Safety has announced a complimentary training session designed to educate residents on how to respond if confronted with such a situation. The session, inspired by tactics developed by the ALERRT Center, will dive into the "Avoid, Deny, Defend" protocols—strategies that the public can employ to enhance personal safety during these unpredictable events.
The training is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Keller Town Hall. Open to all members of the community, the program is organized by the Keller Police Department (KPD) and aims to also guide participants on how to interact with law enforcement officers during occurrences of such high stress.
According to the social media post from Keller Public Safety, "this nationally recognized training program from the ALERRT Center will walk participants through practical “Avoid, Deny, Defend” strategies and offer tips for interacting with law enforcement during an incident." Interested participants are encouraged to register in advance for the session through the link provided in the announcement.
