It's that time of year again for Kingsport residents to get into the holiday spirit. The Kingsport Senior Center is hosting their annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Fair, slated for Nov. 21-22 at the Kingsport Renaissance Center. This free event, now in its sixth year, showcases the works of over 75 crafters from the region, featuring an array of homemade crafts, baskets, woodworking items, and more for the festive season.
According to an announcement on the Kingsport Senior Center's website, with over 75 crafters displaying their crafts, everyone can find something to take home or gift to a loved one from the sprawling array of items. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 21 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 22. Senior Center Director Shirley Buchanan stated, "This event has been one of our more popular holiday events, where folks can come out and find the perfect, locally made personal gift." The event, aiming to get attendees into the holiday spirit, will take place at 1200 E. Center Street, on the first floor of the Renaissance Center.
The fair isn't just a shopping opportunity; it offers a range of entertainment throughout the two days. As per the event's page, Lightnin’ Charlie will be providing entertainment from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 21, followed by Tammy Martin on the hammer dulcimer from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. On the next day, the Suzuki School of Music brings their violins from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Harpist Martha Painter will play from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 22.
A host of food trucks will also be on-site to serve up refreshments, including Smash Bros Eatery, Crave Food Truck, Cornucopia, and Husky Mtn. Eatery. Santa Claus, his elves, and the Grinch will make a special visit to the atrium on both days of the fair, bringing a hallmark of the season's joy to the attendees. However, to really bring in the cheer, a visit from Santa Claus, his elves, and the Grinch is brand new this year, confirmed by officials to be in the atrium on both days.
