
An officer-involved shooting at St. Louis Lambert International Airport resulted in the death of a knife-wielding man, according to the St. Louis County Police Department. Just after 1 a.m., STL Airport Police confronted the individual in Terminal 1 during a security sweep. He refused to drop his knife, and a Taser deployment failed to stop his advance.
When the Taser failed to stop the man from approaching, a second officer discharged a firearm, fatally striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the St. Louis County Police, the officers involved had six months and one year with the STL Airport Police, respectively, and both had prior law enforcement experience.
The St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading an investigation into the incident. Authorities have stated that details may change as the investigation continues and that additional information will be released to the public as it becomes available.
