Residents and commuters in Kōloa, it's time to mark your calendars and plan your routes. The Department of Public Works, alongside Cushnie Construction, is setting up a full road closure along a stretch of Weliweli Road starting November 10 through to mid-December, as long as the weather gods play nice. This interruption in the asphalt's flow is all for the greater good - they're putting in a drainage swale that'll cross Weliweli Road, and we all can get behind fewer flooded streets and swamped lawns, as reported by the County of Kauai.
For those who find their daily grind crisscrossing this soon-to-be construction zone, don't fret. The powers-that-be have promised that access to properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the process. Just anticipate some potential detours and prep for a few extra minutes tacked onto your commute. And remember, parking along the work zones gets a big red flag during this period – it's a no-go. Instead, flaggers will be your guides, directing the dance of detoured traffic.
Need more deets? The shout-out goes to Cushnie Construction, who's stringing the cones and doing the heavy lifting. If your calendar looks unclear or you have a burning question, you're encouraged to give them a buzz at 808-332-9000 or zip an email to [email protected].
