The ongoing battle against identity theft has seen a victory as the Lafayette Police Department announced the apprehension of a suspect accused of victimizing a resident. The Lafayette Police Department shared the news in a concise social media post, revealing the culprit to be a native of Southern California.

Last August, the case unfolded when a Lafayette resident reported their financial identity had been compromised. Lafayette detectives tirelessly worked the case, with the victim continuing to be exploited, demonstrating their commitment to not only apprehend but also to understand the scope of the suspect's activities fully. The police force's efforts eventually led them to zero in on the suspect, believed to be residing in Santa Ana.

Meticulous investigation work, involving several search warrants, allowed detectives to confirm the identity and location of the suspect, 47-year-old Be Pham. Following the discovery, Lafayette Police officers traveled to Santa Ana and, with an arrest warrant in hand, they managed to arrest Pham as she was leaving a residence on Monday.

Pham faces substantial charges, being booked in the Orange County Jail for five counts of Identity Theft (PC 530.5) and four counts for having previous convictions of theft-related crimes (PC 666.1). Currently held in custody in Orange County, plans are already underway to transfer Pham to Contra Costa County to face her charges.
