Residents of Las Cruces are witnessing the steady march of progress beneath their streets and above, as Metronet/Vexus crews diligently work to expand the city’s digital infrastructure. Essential to our time, fiber lines promise improved connectivity and are the arteries of the information age. Today, the city’s official website informs us of the ongoing work zones.
It appears that several neighborhoods are on the docket for these critical upgrades. Digital veins will thread underground along Sandell Rd & El Paseo Rd, with promises of restored thoroughfares once the work is complete. Similarly, Golf Club Rd & Crescent Creek Cir, the Cielo Bonito Ct & Spitz St vicinity, La Melodia Dr & Paseo De Dia, and the intersection of Mormon Dr & Executive Hills Rd are slated for subterranean enhancements. Meanwhile, the intersection of Holly Dr & Lilac Dr will see its enhancements from above, the whisper of fiber lines not disturbing the earth beneath. Finally, the earth will again be parted at Calle Corte & Bella Sierra, all in the service of a faster, more connected tomorrow.
According to the City of Las Cruces, these are not mere disruptions; they are signs of what's to come. A connected community is an empowered one. Each street opened and subsequently restored represents the laying down of new paths, not of concrete, but of light. These operations are not without their inconveniences, though, and the community’s patience as these projects advance is undoubtedly appreciated.
