Two nonprofit organizations in Las Vegas are launching initiatives to help residents vulnerable to cold weather. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission is organizing an emergency blanket and coat drive and is calling for donations, 8 News Now reports.

Heather Engle, CEO of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, said blankets are the most critical need, followed by warm coats for men, women, and children. She noted a rise in individuals seeking shelter and a shortage of warm items. A drive-thru donation event will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 480 West Bonanza Road.

The Foundation for Recovery has launched a coat drive on social media, seeking donations of gently used coats, scarves, hoodies, gloves, and boots. The drive runs through February 28, 2026.

Both organizations are seeking additional items. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission needs men’s and women’s underwear, socks, and hygiene kits, including feminine hygiene products. Businesses or groups able to donate in bulk can contact Heather Williams, Director of Development, at 702-320-2089.

Donations can be dropped off at the Foundation for Recovery, 4800 Alpine Place, Ste. 12, Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
