Las Vegas residents can look forward to the annual Ward 5 holiday lighting event, which will cast a festive glow over Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard. Scheduled for Thursday, November 20, from 5 to 6 p.m., this year's celebration will be hosted at the Cox Communications Parking Lot at 1700 Vegas Drive. The event marks its fourth year as a harbinger of the holiday season in the city.
Organized through the collaborative efforts of the City of Las Vegas and Cox Communications, the event promises to be a community highlight with Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong and officials from Cox jointly participating in the ceremonial lighting. With a flick of the switch, they will illuminate the boulevard starting at dusk, providing passersby a sight of shimmering lights and decorations, as reported by the city's news release.
However, the lights aren't the only attraction at the event. Attendees will be treated to a blend of holiday tunes and the voices of the Western High School Choir, set to perform during the occasion. The event, aiming to spread holiday cheer, will also offer traditional seasonal refreshments, serving hot chocolate to warm the community members gathering to celebrate the kickoff to the holiday season.
