
Leesburg residents might have been roused from slumber by sirens early yesterday morning, as local firefighters tackled a blaze in a two-story residence on Margaret Drive. The fire, which officials say began on the second floor, was reported at around 3 a.m. One individual suffered injuries in the incident and was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. Further details on their condition have not been made available. ClickOrlando reported that the response from the Leesburg Fire Rescue was promptly aided by teams from the Tavares Fire Department and Lake County Fire Rescue.
In a testament to the quick and efficient work of the area's first responders, the fire was contained to its area of origin without spreading to nearby structures. Information from WFTV tells us that Ladder 63 was the first to arrive at the scene, where they initiated an offensive attack to subdue the flames.
The origin and cause of the early morning fire are currently under investigation. Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the fire or possible causes.
