The City of Lewisville has opened applications for the annual Huffines Auto Dealerships Lewisville Christmas Parade. Set to be a highlight of the Old Town Holiday Stroll on December 5 and 6, the parade promises a festive showcase through the historic Old Town Lewisville, as reported by the City of Lewisville.
This year’s parade, taking place on Saturday at 1 p.m., is not just a callback to Christmas cheer but a nod to historical festivity; participants are encouraged to adorn their entries with themes from Christmas past—specifically any decade from the past century. Applications for entering the parade are available online and must be submitted by December 1, according to the City of Lewisville website.
Contestants are hereby warned, the jolliness of Santa and Mrs. Claus is reserved exclusively for the city’s finale float; however, decorative creativity may run wild with other Christmas figures. The parade guidelines explicitly prohibit personal depots of Santa or Mrs. Claus on any float or parade entry, to preserve the traditional climax featuring Santa himself, as derived from the city's announcement.
Some new competitive nuances come with this year's parade. A Centennial Award, boasting a $1,000 prize, will be presented for the best representation of a specific decade between 1925-2025, including both decoration and costumes. Similarly, a Best Overall Magic prize will honor the most visually appealing and spirited entry. Businesses and community groups can also compete for monetary awards, with categories tailored for each, as per the event details shared by the city.
