In an effort to actively reinforce community safety, the Lewisville Police Department has extended an open invitation to residents for a free course on how to respond to active shooter situations. As noted in a social media post by the department, the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, or C.R.A.S.E., training is scheduled for the upcoming weekend and requires no prior registration for attendance.
The session set to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Tittle McFadden Public Safety Center, aims to provide individuals with the knowledge to quickly make the best decisions to ensure their safety in the dire event of an active shooter. "This free, informative session is taught by our very own LPD Certified Trainers and provides practical strategies for surviving an active shooter situation," according to the post from Lewisville Police Department's Facebook page.
With the objective to better prepare the community, the C.R.A.S.E. course is open to all adults 18 and over and stresses the importance of situational awareness and response in crises. As the threat of public shootings continues to cast a shadow across the nation, local law enforcement tactically seeks to empower citizens through this educational initiative.
