Over the weekend, the Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center spread some early holiday cheer by hosting a "Pet Photos with Santa" event, a hit among pet owners looking to craft the perfect seasonal greeting card. According to the City of Lewisville's official website, the festive gathering took place on Saturday, inviting locals to bring their pets for a memorable snapshot with Santa Claus.
This complimentary, first-come, first-served event encouraged attendees not just to capture a moment of Yuletide joy, but also to consider expanding their families. The shelter, at 995 E. Valley Ridge, which opened its doors for potential adopters to mingle with animals in need of homes, reported the site. And in an effort to promote adoptions, all fees for dogs over 20 pounds have been waived through the end of November.
For those pulling up with pooches in tow, the event had clear guidelines; every dog had to remain on a leash and exhibit their best behavior. Meanwhile, felines and other small creatures were required to arrive in a hard-sided pet taxi, ensuring safety and order amid the holiday bustling.
