Heads up, commuters and weekend wanderers: the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced a series of lane closures on I-35E to make way for the installation of steel girders for the new Main Street bridge. According to the details shared by the City of Lewisville, the Managed Lanes will be out of commission starting 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, stretching through the weekend until the early hours of Monday, Nov. 17.

Friday's traffic will see the Main Street Bridge out of action from 7 p.m., but plans to resume service by Saturday at 10 a.m. The north and southbound main lanes of I-35E are set to follow, shuttering at 10 p.m. and aiming to reopen at the same time the following morning. Drivers intending to use the northbound Exit 453 to Valley Ridge will need to alter their routes after 8 p.m., with the exit slated for a reopening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The pattern of closures will repeat on Saturday, with the Main Street Bridge getting another round of closures at 8 p.m., and both lanes of I-35E ceasing starting at 10 p.m. The bridge and lanes are expected to welcome traffic back at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16. Police officers will be present during the entire weekend, lending their expertise in traffic control to assist drivers navigating the detours. They have announced.

Wrapping up the weekend closures on Sunday, the bridge is scheduled to be inaccessible starting at 8 p.m., and the north and southbound lanes of I-35E will follow two hours later at 10 p.m. All are set to reopen early Monday, at 5 a.m., Nov. 17. In response to the closures, northbound traffic will exit at Fox Ave./Main Street and will be rerouted along the northbound service road. While at the same time, the southbound traffic on I-35E is advised to exit at Valley Ridge and utilize the southbound service road as a detour to their usual paths.
