The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has reopened its grounds for the annual "Lightscape" event. According to ABC7NY, the show resumed in New York City, featuring a redesigned, mile-long trail that guides visitors through a forest with new light installations.

This year’s Lightscape features 19 light installations created by internationally recognized artists, showcasing the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s winter landscape. The trail includes a curated soundtrack, with dining and beverage options available along the route. “We’re excited to once again welcome New Yorkers to Lightscape to begin the holiday season,” said Kathryn Glass, interim co-director of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, in a statement obtained by ABC7NY. The event runs through January 4, 2026.

This year’s light show adds new interactive installations, including Threshold and a Light Orchestra, which invite visitors to try conducting. As reported by PIX11, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said, “This is some Disney-level stuff here. It’s so exciting.” Williams noted that his family, along with many others, attends the garden’s light show each year.

The exhibit includes a field of simulated fireflies and a display resembling a sea of bluebonnets. The Winter Cathedral has become a common location for marriage proposals, averaging around 50 per season. One couple from Queens, viewing the arrangements set to music, told PIX11, “The music helps with the atmosphere,” said Victor Barros. “It’s very romantic overall.”

The garden has reserved three Thursdays in December for visitors aged 21 and over. Lightscape provides an opportunity to view the holiday lights in the evening. For more information or to purchase tickets, visitors can visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden website.
