Lincoln Park residents are on high alert following a spate of burglaries and vehicle vandalisms. According to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department, a series of incidents has taken place within the 18th (Near North) and 19th (Town Hall) Districts recently. Witnesses reported that unknown individuals smashed car windows and, in several cases, items were stolen from inside the vehicles.
The break-ins appear to have been targeted at parked, unoccupied vehicles. The CPD provided specific dates and locations for the incidents, all centered in Lincoln Park. Attempts to quickly identify and apprehend the offenders are underway, with the suspects described as two African American males, sporting ski masks and either black or gray jumpsuits. The narrow time frame of the offenses suggests a pattern or possibly a spree, indicating the importance for locals to remain extra vigilant and to definitely report any suspicious activities.
