Livermore's streets are a little cleaner this week, thanks to the nose of K9 Drake and the Livermore Police Department. In a routine traffic stop gone drug bust, a local 61-year-old, Dennis Murders, finds himself in cuffs after Drake's sniff-out. The Livermore Police Department shared the news on social media following the incident on Tuesday.

The incident unfolded at approximately 2:30 PM, when Livermore police stopped Murders for what initially appeared to be a routine traffic violation at the intersection of Las Positas and North Mines Road. However, the situation escalated after K9 Drake conducted a free-air sniff, during which the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, triggering the chain of events that followed.

Officers ultimately recovered approximately 13.5 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside Murders’ vehicle. A discovery of that magnitude quickly shifted the situation from a traffic stop to a criminal case, and Murders now faces multiple drug-related charges, including transportation and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
