A hiker in his 40s was rescued from the Pali Notches Trail in Kailua, according to a statement from the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). The man, who has not been named, became disoriented last Thursday and was unable to make his way back down the trail on his own.
After receiving a 911 call at 4:20 p.m. on the day of the incident, HFD dispatched seven units comprising 22 personnel to the scene, arriving by 4:37 p.m. The team began their ascent on foot in search of the lost hiker, with another unit preparing for air support. Hindered by bad weather, they had to suspend the search overnight, resuming again at dawn.
Yesterday morning, the aerial unit, Air 1, successfully located the hiker. "Rescue personnel were inserted to the hiker’s location where it was confirmed he was uninjured," as stated by the HFD.
The hiker was ultimately airlifted to safety at the prepared landing zone. Declining to receive medical assistance, he walked away from the rescue with no physical harm. In an operation marked by precision, all HFD personnel involved in the rescue effort were accounted for without injury, as reported by the HFD.
