A man was killed and another was injured in a shooting on Friday morning in a parking garage on the 4200 block of Northeast Halsey Street in Portland's Hollywood District. Police arrested 39-year-old Daniel A. Snegirev in connection with the shooting, as reported by KPTV.
Authorities arrived on the scene shortly before 7 a.m. to find one man deceased and another transported to an hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening, as per OPB. The Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team apprehended Snegirev at a Tigard hotel after an hours-long surveillance operation, facilitating his surrender to law enforcement.
Portland police reported a shooting in a Halsey Street parking garage involving people who knew each other. Sgt. Kevin Allen said, "This was not a random crime. I can confirm that our information was that this involved known persons. They’re all 3 adult males. They knew each other and had a history. There was a confrontation in the second story of the parking garage where the shooting happened." A 27-year-old man was killed, and the suspect, Snegirev, faces second-degree murder and attempted murder charges. The area is known for safety concerns, with local resident Timothy Fivecoat saying, "The neighborhood is questionable. I mean, it’s not a friendly neighborhood because everybody’s on guard constantly from the homeless," according to KPTV.
