A man is now in police custody after brandishing what were later identified as replica airsoft pistols on the busy Las Vegas Strip, a bustling hub of entertainment and tourism. According to FOX5 Vegas, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was alerted to a man in the 2800 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, brandishing weapons that appeared to be a handgun and a rifle.
Responding to the reports, the police managed to contain the situation by deploying less-lethal force after the man, who initially displayed the weapons, stowed them inside a backpack and attempted to walk away, causing a significant portion of the Boulevard to be shut down after Sahara Avenue, the lane traffic was reduced to just one open lane, creating logistic challenges amid the evening's activity on the Strip. In a statement obtained by News3LV, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detailed that the confrontation was resolved without further incident.
